Mr Lorenzo Garagnani is a highly specialised Consultant Orthopaedic Hand and Wrist Surgeon who treats the whole spectrum of disorders of the hand, wrist and peripheral nerves of the upper limb, both in adults and children.
He qualified in Medicine and Surgery at Bologna University (Italy) then he trained in Trauma and Orthopaedics in the prestigious Bologna Specialist Training Programme, mainly based at the world famous Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institute.

In 2012, Mr Garagnani was appointed Consultant Hand and Wrist Surgeon at the Department of Hand Surgery and Microsurgery of the University Hospital Policlinico di Modena (Italy), where he also jointly led the busy Multidisciplinary Congenital Upper Limb and Hand Anomalies service.
In 2015, Mr Garagnani was appointed Consultant Orthopaedic Hand and Wrist Surgeon at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust in London, where his NHS practice is now based. At Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, he also developed and led the pilot of the new Multidisciplinary Congenital Upper Limb and Hand Anomalies (CULHA) service.
In 2017, Mr Garagnani was appointed Hon Senior Clinical Lecturer at the Faculty of Life Sciences and Medicine of King's College London.
Mr Garagnani's expertise includes treatment of musicians, artists and athletes' hand and wrist injuries. Mr Garagnani is an internationally recognised expert in the treatment of congenital hand and upper limb differences in children and adults.
Mr Garagnani’s activities also include supervision of and teaching to Specialist Trainees, Hand Fellows and King’s College London medical students. He is author of numerous scientific publications that include papers and book chapters, and is regular speaker and invited faculty at national and international conferences and courses. Mr Garagnani is internationally recognised for his work and research on new minimally invasive techniques that allow reduction of surgical morbidity.
